A whole lot has happened these past few days, both good and bad but I’d share two major ones. Let’s start with the sad one and end it on a good note. Hehe!
I lost my dad (I talked about this in my last post). That was such a huge blow! When I heard I was just numb, I didn’t know what to feel, I couldn’t cry but the hurt and pain is terrible, it cannot be explained only someone that has been there can understand. May his soul rest in peace.
My friends were there truly there for me and I’m super grateful for all the messages from you all while I was away. The love was overwhelming. Thank you.
I’d like to share some bible verses someone sent to me. I barely know this person but her message was really timely and comforting, Lamentations 3:28-33 especially. For anyone going through one thing or the other, I hope it comforts you.
~Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
~Lamentations 3: 31-33 “For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone.”
~Psalm 46: 1-2 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.”
I know this continues to be a trying time. Everyone says to be strong but honestly, you don’t have to. Grieve as deeply and as long as you need. And when your soul is sated, be better. It’ll never be okay but I promise you, it will get easier.
Now to the good part
Your girl is back to the “9-5” life.
After one year of not practicing, searching, getting rejected (I shared that here), I finally got a job when I stopped trying. Yaaay!!!
My friend said she forgot that I’m still a Pharmacist. Silly silly Rachel! 😂. If you also didn’t know before, now you know. Haha!
So let me give you the “juice”.
I got a call two weeks ago from a friend, she asked if I remember a particular institution we both submitted our applications some months back, I replied yes. Apparently, they called her for an interview but she just got employed somewhere else so she had to turn them down but she didn’t only do that, she recommended me and told them that I’d applied before (Everyone needs a friend like Dunni).
I got a call from them almost immediately and the interview was slated for the next day. Your girl aced the interview and was employed immediately. Just like that!
It’s been great so far but as usual Lagos traffic would always be a problem! 🤦♀️
I miss having all the time in the world to myself but I’m truly grateful for this job because it came at the right time, it’s a good learning ground and it is really flexible.
When I’m not at work, I can still do all my social media work. So, ThatLagosGirl brand is still very much alive, please don’t stop recommending me for those influencing gigs😁.
One last thing guys, I know I say this all the time, I’d say it again because it is still very valid, don’t just exist, LIVE!!!
It’s good to work, it’s good to aim for more but live today, enjoy every moment you have. Don’t “tight the world to your chest”, spread love and above all, live a meaningful life- one that pleases God.
Talk to you later guys.
Peace, Love and Light.
