Times have indeed changed as we all know what’s going on in the world right now.
Well, if you don’t, let me share.
The world is experiencing the outbreak of a major pandemic- Coronavirus Disease.
What exactly is Coronavirus? Well, according to WHO,
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.
Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face.
The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).
At this time, there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19. However, there are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments.
I wasn’t going to talk about this anymore (I have done a lot of this on instagram already) ‘cause I truly have chosen Faith over Fear this period.
Am I Panicky? Not really!
Am I concerned? Hell Yeah!
I’m concerned because Nigeria is not prepared for this in any way- Our healthcare system, the population and the level of ignorance of its people.
I’m concerned because in all of these, some people choose to see it as a battle against the church/religion.
I’m concerned for the healthcare practitioners that are at the forefront and the risk involved. It’s not fair on them that people still choose to put themselves at risk.
I’m concerned because someone’s stupidity could cost other people their lives!
I’m so concerned because some people are still choosing to wallow in ignorance. I’ve seen clips where people say that all they need to do is use hand sanitizers and they are free. Oh No, you are not! Sanitizers are not “anti-viruses”. And for those “event organizers” and employers that keep saying that they’d ensure that there are thermometers, do you know that thermometers are not cornavirus test kits? Do you know that some people are asymptomatic and your thermometers wouldn’t detect anything in that case? Don’t even get me started on he number of people that don’t even believe (or have chosen not to believe) that it’s in Nigeria yet.
I’m concerned because we cannot be too careful, so the best way to prevent the spread is social distancing! Before you leave your house, ask yourself, “is this outing really important, what would happen if I don’t go? Will I die?”
Stop putting yourself at risk, If it’s not EXTREMELY essential, PLEASE STAY AT HOME .
Don’t forget to maintain proper personal hygiene. Wash your hands, use alcohol based hand sanitizers, eat well, use vitamins to boost your immunity, practice social distancing and stay prayed up.
All my love.
